Another exciting weekend...

Why are re-charable batteries not charged when you buy them?

Ok so I am not the most handy girl around – sure I can build a web site in code from scratch but ask me to change a light bulb and well you may see me fall of the chair…
Hence when I went to shoot some photos for a client I made sure I was prepared.  I went to the store bought some re-chargeable batteries to put into my camera asap and when I went to take the shoot the camera died.  I could not work out what was wrong I actually thought I would have to buy another camera as mine was now broken.
Turns out (thanks to my husband) re-chargeable batteries need to be charged before you use them, which leaves me with this question…
Why on earth would I want to buy dead batteries? So I could go home and charge them myself? – please if any one can enlighten me, do so…

On the home front…

I have 3 genii foul (small birds) so they eat the ticks around the bush we live in, we have a runner that they are safe in where the chooks live.  The genii foul leave the safety of the runner to well…go around the bush and eat ticks – good!  My dog ate one of the genii foul – now they stay in the safety of the runner and don’t eat ticks around the bush.  My dog gets a tick.  Arrrrhhhhhhh

My weekend

Arrh Motherhood at its best...

Its true when they say your life will never be the same after you have kids, I cant image my life without them but I cant remember my life before them either, which leaves me no room for comparison.  This past week my 4 year old has managed to turn the house hold upside down and when this happens its almost always on the day before I have to work.  I only work 2 days a week - how does he know?  On Wednesday he feel of the trampoline and hit his head and had to go to hospital in an ambulance - oh he is fine dont worry but he has a nasty graze to prove how much of a bad parent I am!  To my relife my mother came over on the weekend which helps me so much with the kids so I can rest - only that she brought soap that smells so nice you think you could eat it - which is what my 4 yr old did.  Maybe less than half an hour later I was cleaning vomit of the tiles and carpet - I discovered its not easy to sleep in a room that smells like carpet cleaner and vomit mixed.

Later this week...

My 4 yr old is going to pre-school or pre-prep for the first time on Wednesday...I have been taking him on hour trips there in the hopes he gets used to the place.   I start work at my old position at Griffith going from Web team to student admin web services - same work but a different area - so really I go from being the least nerdiest in the room to the only nerd in the room - damn it.  Which only means I will be asked lots of questions about computer problems - to which I will reply "I have you tried turning the computer off and on again?".

Clients

I had the pleasure of meeting up with Jan Cranitch yesterday - always leaves me feeling motivated - in fact most people I know that are working or know Jan say the same thing - she is a fire ball!  I am currently changing her old web site to go into a new CMS site and its coming along - but just like every other business its hard work to get to the top of google rankings - since most markets are flooded.  Thing is I have done the research and looked at so many other gift baskets sites that I literally know she has the best looking product out there - its amazing that you can have a bad site, dodge products but if you have great SEO you are at the top of the google list anyway.

Its funny google has no "good looking site" filter - its just code - the same situation is happening with another client of mine in the security industry.  There is a site out there that's beating them hands down in every key word battle - but the site is shocking - should I drop all design and just SEO?  Then again you can lead a horse to water but you cant make it drink - especially if the water looks bad....
